    Mixed Conditionals: Quando Passato e Presente si Incontrano

    Tipo 1: Condizione passata → Risultato presente

    Struttura: If + Past Perfect → would/could + infinitive

    "If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now."
    (Non ho studiato medicina nel passato, quindi ora non sono medico)

    Tipo 2: Condizione presente → Risultato passato

    Struttura: If + Simple Past → would/could + have + past participle

    "If she spoke Italian, she would have understood the conversation."
    (Non parla italiano, quindi non ha capito la conversazione di ieri)

    Conditionals Impliciti: Senza "If"

    Inversione

    Elimina "if" e inverti soggetto e verbo

    ✓ "Should you need help, call me."
    (= If you should need help...)

    ✓ "Were I younger, I'd travel more."
    (= If I were younger...)

    Condizioni implicite con conseguenze

    ✓ "Hurry up, otherwise you'll be late."

    Conditionals con "Wish" e "If only"

    ✓ "I wish I had more time" (present regret)
    ✓ "I wish I would have more time tomorrow" (future wish - solo con futuro)

    Advanced: "As if" e "As though"

    Queste strutture esprimono un confronto con situazioni irreali o ipotetiche:

    Unreality in the Present

    ✓ "He acts as if he were the boss." (ma non lo è)

    ✓ "She talks as though she knew everything." (ma non sa tutto)

    ✓ "You look as if you had seen a ghost." (aspetto attuale, causa passata)

    Reality Check

    ✓ "It looks as if it's going to rain." (probabilmente pioverà)

    ✓ "It sounds as though they're having fun." (probabilmente si stanno divertendo)

    • • Wish: "I wish I had started learning English sooner."
